Korot’s 1980s canvases and paintings explore pattern and weaving, treating the written word as abstract code. Her 2011 catalog notes: "Text (textus) and weave (texto) share the same Latin root. Text is a fabric of threads, a web, texture, and thought, built and unraveled." In Earth Was, Korot translates the Tower of Babel story into an abstract grid-based language. This visual meditation reflects the Babel narrative's shift from a god-centered to a human-centered world, where technological progress led to confusion and dispersion.
