Versteeg’s work explores painterly abstraction using digital technology. His evolving algorithmic code produces compositions central to his practice. By mimicking painterly effects through programming, Versteeg examines images as constructed scenarios with infinite variables. He gathers and collages random internet images or approaches near-monochromatic forms. The present artwork generates numerous flat images daily, creating a rapid influx of possibilities that Versteeg must navigate.
