Claudia Hart's Night Paintings are derived from her unpublished game Russian Roulette (A Game of Life), which blended casino gambling with ancient divination practices like the I Ching, Tarot, and Astrology. When the game failed, Hart transformed the 3D graphics she created into a series of mixed media works. Combining hand painting, sprayed pigment, and resin on wood panels, these still-lifes serve as Memento Mori. They critique a culture obsessed with technology and expansion, yet blind to the lessons of history.
