The Notes and Folds series features framed, pleated textiles with patterns converted into musical scores, merging sound with form and programming with handcraft. Each piece includes a music box that plays the encoded musical patterns. Inspired by Ada Lovelace's link between computational programming and music, and the work of composers Morton Feldman and Conlon Nancarrow—who drew from Middle Eastern rug patterns and player piano perforations, respectively—the series creates a dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and modern musical programming.
