LaJuné McMillian's work challenges digital spaces by parsing the limitations of western technologies, specifically in terms of how they may harm, isolate, place limitations on, and ignore the needs of Black people. This Self Portrait series questions how bodies are translated and accounted for in the Digital. McMillian focuses on technology that humanizes the individual beyond data production. What worlds must be built for the liberated body to exist? How can we care for liberated bodies in and outside the Digital?
